授業の概要

Intensive English Communication I meets twice a week. Students will take a Reading/TOEIC class and a Communication Skills class. Reading/TOEIC Students will prepare for the TOEIC Bridge by familiarizing themselves with the test format and items. They will develop skills and strategies in listening, reading and grammar. Students will read short passages and work on developing reading strategies and skills, such as previewing and predicting, getting the main idea, getting details, inferring meaning, and getting meaning from context, skimming and scanning, in order to improve their reading fluency and comprehension. Communication Skills Class 1 - 7 Students will listen to short passages or conversations and continue work on developing listening skills such as previewing and predicting, getting the main idea, getting details, inferring meaning, and getting meaning from context. Students should brainstorm ideas, discuss and share ideas on listening topics. Students will engage in teacher selected writing and Internet research projects and presentations. Students will practice listening and speaking on everyday common topics. Communication Skills Class 8-15 Students will prepare for the TOEIC IP by familiarizing themselves with the listening test format and items. They will develop skills and strategies in listening, reading and grammar. Students will read short passages and develop reading comprehension skills, share and discuss ideas on topics, develop writing skills in grammar and mechanics. Students should progress from writing complete sentences to paragraphs, and practice writing for different purposes and in different genres. Students will practice listening and speaking on everyday common topics.
