授業の概要

The basic question we will ask in this seminar is "why do organizations exist?" In answering this question, each seminar student will select one type of private or public organization and the participate in the following activities: (1) design a research project, (2) conduct an organizational case study, and (3) participate in an extra-curricular activity (internship, volunteer activity, overseas study, etc.)

到達目標	The goal for this semester is for each student to learn about and experience an organizational setting outside the university.

第1回目	Organizational Theory	Introduction to the seminar. Small group activity: Jungle Survival Exercise
第2回目	"	Jungle Survival Exercise (continued). Results and discussion (individual versus group in society) --> individual/group action plan.
第3回目	Fieldwork I	PLANNING: Selection of a domestic organization for study and write a questionnaire.
第4回目	"	DOING: Conduct questionnaire interviews.
第5回目	"	Discussion of fieldwork experiences. Analyzing the questionnaire data.
第6回目	"	Presentations
第7回目	Fieldwork II	PLANNING: Selection of an international organization for study and write a questionnaire.
第8回目	"	DOING: Conduct questionnaire interviews at JICA, United Nations organization, or anyother international organization/company.

第11回目	Comparative Methods	Introduction to different comparative methods. Application to the Fieldwork I and II data.
