授業の概要
Communication is a two-way street, students need to be able to talk about themselves as well as find out the opinions of others. As we communicate, we anticipate and react to what others say and do. We do this based on our culture and experiences. Students will read about various issues that they could be faced with as a student on a campus in North America. Students will then reflect on an issue,offer a personal view,and discuss it with others. The classroom is not always as homogeneous a cultural setting as often thought to be. Students can practice comparing and contrasting their own understandings, awareness, attitudes, and behaviors with their peers.
Students will asked to view issues and situations on three levels;description,interpretation,and evaluation.In learning to be aware of the three levels,living in a different culture might become a little less overwhelming.

Students should prepare for discussion by reading handouts. Students will also be asked to write a personal response on related topics. This homework will be used in class by the students as a support and focus as they discuss the topic-in English. Handouts and homework are to be collected in a portfolio file.
The teacher's and student's evaluation of attitude, effort, and classroom participation will be the basis of deciding grades, along with the portfolio of work and quizzes.
