授業の概要
    This will be an ENGLISH-ONLY class; speaking English both in pair discussions and when interacting within the larger group. Students who are not confident in the fluency or accuracy of their spoken English are very welcome in this class. A desire to speak and willingness to work on fluency is important. Students will be asked to share their responses to the issues and respond to the opinions and insights of others. The class will NOT have a formal debate focus.
    Students will have the chance to practice organizing thoughts, and then to communicate them convincingly and effectively. The focus is on communication strategies; strategies for giving messages and responding.

成績評価方法
Students should prepare for discussion by reading and understanding handouts. Students will be asked to write a personal response to the topic. This homework will be used in class by the students as a support and focus as they discuss the topic - in English. Handouts and homework are to be collected in a portfolio file. The teacher’s and student’s evaluation of attitude, effort, and classroom participation will be the basis of deciding grades, along with the portfolio of work
