Goals : Students will develop basic mechanics of writing, and practice expressive writing through journals ans short essays.

Tasks : letter to the editor; reactions to a reading; autobiographical narration
Skills: organizing ideas; supporting an opinion with examples and predictions; limiting information; topic sentences;
concluding sentences
Strategies: avoiding faulty reasoning; omitting unimportant details; developing paragraph format
Listening & Speaking: Chap. 3&4
Goals : Students will be able to underdstand speech beyond the most basic level,and express themselves in a more expanded
range of situations beyond the most basic English.Conversation topic areas are supported by the read material

Tasks : role-play; interview; discussion on the topics
Skills: requesting,giving,and accepting advice; expressing ability and lack of ability; apologizing and reconciling
